چکیده

An event-related design for fMRI studies has recently been developed. In this design, stimuli can be presented in random order. In the present study, an event-related fMRI system for hearing experiments was developed and the usefulness of this system was assessed. The brain regions involved in an auditory oddball task were determined. The results showed that the event-related fMRI was useful for hearing studies.

Changes in fMRI magnitude data and phase data observed in block-design and event-related tasks

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data are acquired as a complex image pair including magnitude and phase information. The vast majority of fMRI experiments do not attempt to take advantage of the time varying phase information. The phase of the MRI signal is related to the local magnetic field changes, suggesting it may contain useful information about the source of hemodynamic acti...

Single-trial analysis of oddball event-related potentials in simultaneous EEG-fMRI.

There has recently been a growing interest in the use of simultaneous electroencephalography (EEG) and functional MRI (fMRI) for evoked activity in cognitive paradigms, thereby obtaining functional datasets with both high spatial and temporal resolution. The simultaneous recording permits obtaining event-related potentials (ERPs) and MR images in the same environment, conditions of stimulation,...

Method for multimodal analysis of independent source differences in schizophrenia: combining gray matter structural and auditory oddball functional data.

The acquisition of both structural MRI (sMRI) and functional MRI (fMRI) data for a given study is a very common practice. However, these data are typically examined in separate analyses, rather than in a combined model. We propose a novel methodology to perform independent component analysis across image modalities, specifically, gray matter images and fMRI activation images as well as a joint ...

Combined event-related fMRI and intracerebral ERP study of an auditory oddball task.

Event-related fMRI (efMRI) has been repeatedly used to seek the neural sources of endogenous event-related potentials (ERP). However, significant discrepancies exist between the efMRI data and the results of previously published intracranial ERP studies of oddball task. To evaluate the capacity of efMRI to define the sources of the P3 component of ERP within the human brain, both efMRI and intr...

Females with schizophrenia have abnormal functional cortical connectivity in the gamma frequency during an auditory oddball task using magnetoencephalography

We studied differences in imaginary coherence (IC) of the gamma band between brain regions of female schizophrenia patients during the auditory oddball task using magnetoencephalography (MEG). Subjects were 12 right-handed female schizophrenia patients, who were evaluated by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scales (PANSS). Functional connectivity during an auditory oddball task was reconstruc...
